The SOL 7 series comprises five products for Perc, Topcon and heterojunction devices.

The performance of the company’s Selectively Coated Ribbons was measured for more than a year in a field test. Heraeus says the yield gains are achieved by the device’s optical properties – said to enable improved reflection – even at low angles of incidence and in low-light conditions.

In late September, Heraeus launched its Selectively Coated Ribbons (SCR) technology. The product will be rolled out in partnership with ribbon supplier Ulbrich. Delivering a 1.9 W power output boost without any equipment investment and with few process changes, Heraeus’ Toralf Eggert and Ulbrich’s Peter Berghofer claim SCR will make conventional busbars competitive with unwieldy multi-busbars.

Prominent industry speakers also put forth their views on how standards can catalyze solar innovation for India-specific challenges, and on PV materials and components for enhanced module efficiency and recycling.

The new Selectively Coated Ribbons (SCR) technology could improve yields by 2.2 Watts on module level, says the manufacturer. The new ribbons can also be used with existing equipment, omitting the need for manufacturers to invest in new production outlay, at a time when profit margins in module manufacturing are squeezed.

Andreas Liebheit, President of Heraeus Photovoltaics, has stepped down for personal reasons. He has been temporarily replaced by Raymund Chua, Head of HPT in Singapore and Head of Heraeus’ Asia-Pacific Regional Center.

JinkoSolar has agreed to provide 17 MW of solar panels for one of the first utility-scale PV projects to be built in the western Canadian province of Alberta.

The agreement between the German metallization solutions company and the leading Chinese Tier-1 solar manufacturer will see the two companies jointly develop ‘Super PV Cells’ in what is the third such strategic partnership between them.

German silver paste manufacturer Heraeus announced that it has appealed the decision of Taiwanese regional intellectual property (IP) court, following its July 7th decision that Giga Solar does not infringe on its patent.
