Voltalia buys 70% stake in four Jordan PV plants

The French renewable energy developer has agreed to acquire a 70% interest in four plants totaling 57 MW. The facilities were built by Voltalia itself between 2015 and 2016.

ACWA Power switches on 50 MW solar park in Jordan

The PV project, which was tendered by Jordanian utility NEPCO in 2017, will sell power at $0.059/kWh. The plant is located in Jordan’s Risha region, which is roughly 300 km northeast of Amman.

Jordan renews solar rebates for residential PV

The Kingdom of Jordan’s government has signed an agreement with Jordan Islamic Bank to facilitate the financing of residential projects under the scheme. Selected projects will be entitled to a 30% rebate for installations up to 3.5 kW.

Jordan launches tender for utility scale solar at Azraq town

When built, the 5 MW solar park will add to two other megawatt scale plants powering Azraq’s refugee camp. The project is expected to be developed with the support of the Spanish government.

Jordan’s plan to have solar on all mosques moves forward

Philadelphia Solar raises module capacity to 500 MW

The Jordanian PV module manufacturer plans to add two new production lines at its factory in Amman over the next 12 weeks. The new lines will add half-cell and bifacial mono PERC modules to the company’s product range.

First Middle Eastern utility-scale solar-plus-storage plant comes online

Jordan gets $265 million loan to improve grid capabilities, integrate more solar

The funds, provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, will help utility NEPCO repay short-term debt, as well as financing expansion of the grid’s capability to increase the share of solar and other renewable energy.
