The Omani authorities aim to develop a 500 MW solar project in Ibri, in northwestern Oman, where other PV facilities are located.

Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company has identified an area of 65,500 m2 for a solar project in Muscat Governorate. Interested developers have until May 4 to submit their proposals.

Omani developer Solar Wadi is seeking engineering, procurement and construction contractors to build a planned PV project in Sohar Industrial City, Oman.

OQ says it will set up a new 100 MW solar park at the Block 60 concession area, which is owned by Oman Oil Corporation Exploration & Production.

Enerwhere has designed a solar-plus-storage mobile unit for offgrid locations such as oil and gas fields and construction sites. It can be adapted to different needs and is scalable up to megawatt-scale projects.

Acme Solar said the facility would use 3 GWp of solar and 0.5 GWp of wind energy to produce 2,400 tons of green ammonia daily and approximately 900,000 tons annually. Construction is planned in phases with an investment of $3.5 billion over the next three years.

An international consortium led by Omani oil company OQ is planning a 25 GW wind-solar complex to produce green hydrogen in the central region of the Middle Eastern country. The clean fuel could be consumed on-site, used to produce green ammonia, or exported to other markets.

The Indian multinational said the project is its second PV installation in Oman, following the completion of a 125 MWp solar plant in June.

Sumitomo has signed a contract with an EPC for a PV-powered green hydrogen plant in Queensland, and has also started a feasibility study for a gray-green hybrid hydrogen project in Oman.

Oman’s Sohar Port and Freezone may become the Middle East’s first green hydrogen generation hub powered by several gigawatts of solar. The project is being supported by the Port of Rotterdam, which owns a 50% stake in the Omani port. Around 3.5 GW of PV is being planned for its area.
