Australian state awards permit for 1.3 GW pumped hydro station
Former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has secured a contract to develop two large-scale pumped hydro projects on water reservoirs owned by the New South Wales government.
Dubai’s 250 MW/1,500 MWh pumped-storage project nearing completion
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) Hatta pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant is now 74% complete, and it is expected to begin operations in the first half of 2025. The facility will also store electricity from the 5 GW Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
EnBW builds pumped hydro storage facility in Germany
German power utility EnBW says its new pumped hydro storage project will require an investment of €280 million ($304.9 million). It is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.
Australian developer to start building 250 MW pumped hydro plant
Construction is expected to commence in the weeks ahead on the massive 250 MW Kidston Pumped Hydro Storage Project in Queensland, as developer Genex Power has announced a $115 million share issue that will deliver the funds for the project to proceed.
