Negative energy price drives loss of Netherlands solar incentives

Negative energy prices for more than six hours mean the Dutch government will pay no renewables incentives under its SDE+ program for March 29. The plunging electricity price was caused by slumping demand for energy as restrictions were put in place to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Giant transformers for grid debottlenecking

Dutch power company Liander has installed two large transformers at a distribution station in Ulft, in the province of Gelderland. The devices should provide more room for renewables on the network from next year.

Covid-19: Dutch developers want 2020 deadlines delayed

Netherlands trade body Holland Solar has asked the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy for an extension of grid-connection deadlines for solar projects being built under the SDE+ incentive program for large scale renewables. The association also urged Dutch municipalities to keep processing permits.

Dutch government doubles budget for upcoming SDE+ round to €4 billion

The Dutch government said that the budget increase will allow several solar projects that were excluded from the previous round to secure contracts in the next one. In the last round, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency received €9.06 billion of applications for just €5 billion of available subsidies.

Dutch golf club to diversify with 147 MW solar park but will grid congestion bunker the plans?

PV project developer Solarfield is planning to build a plant under the SDE+ renewables incentives program. Construction is planned to start in 2021. The solar park will be in the province of Flevoland, one of the areas where grid congestion is jeopardizing the deployment of large scale solar.

Netherlands: Bid to exclude grid-congested areas from subsidy fails to stem solar tide

Some 7,525 renewables projects with a total generation capacity of 6,223 MW are under review by the Dutch Ministry of Economy in the second round of the SDE+ program for this year. Solar accounts for 74.7% of the submitted capacity.

11.7 MW of bifacial solar goes online in the Netherlands

The panels were provided by Chinese manufacturer Jolywood, which claims the Zonnepark Rilland project is the first utility-scale solar plant built with n-type bifacial modules in Europe.

Netherlands allocates 2.3 GW of solar in spring round of SDE+ program for large-scale renewables

Overall, the Dutch government allocated 3.2 GW of renewable energy generation capacity through the latest round of the program, which is open to solar and clean energy projects larger in size than 15 kW.

Netherlands pre-selects PV projects totaling 2.64 GW in first round of 2017 SDE+ program

Solar dominated the first round of the Netherlands’ 2017 SDE+ program for large-scale renewable energy projects, accounting for 69.4% of all preassigned capacity. Overall, 4,484 PV projects proposals totaling 2,647 MW were accepted.

Netherlands’ PV market set to reach 2 GW milestone

The Dutch market keeps showing signs of sustained growth. Estimated new installed PV power for 2016 is expected to surpass 500 MW, while another 600 MW is forecast for this year. Several PV projects developed under the SDE+ program for large-scale renewable energy projects began to come online in the past months.
