Swedish researchers have analyzed the impact of electric aviation and electric vehicle (EV) charging on the power system at Visby Airport. They have discovered that on-site solar panels and battery storage could significantly reduce grid stress, and have proposed a novel approach to battery operation.

While trade group SolarPower Europe has welcomed the EU’s emissions-reduction legislative package, it renewed calls for solar and energy storage to be mandated on buildings and urged policymakers to go even further than the stated ambition for clean power to fire 40% of European electricity by 2030.

The volume of solar electricity generated and proportion of self-consumption at the Lake Maiwald floating plant have both surpassed expectations. Gravel company Ossola has been able to reduce its electricity bill 10% as a result.
