Synergy eyes system security as work begins on Australian big battery

Construction has commenced on what will be Western Australia’s biggest battery energy storage system. The first of the battery units installed for the 100 MW/200 MWh Kwinana Big Battery will be built at the site of the decommissioned Kwinana Power Station near Perth.

Australian coal generator undercut by rooftop solar boom

The authorities in Western Australia have revealed that two units at Synergy’s Muja Power Station will be retired from October 2022. The state government said the coal-fired units were only being used about 35% of the time, largely because rooftop solar has reduced demand on the grid.
