The government of the Indian state decided to cancel an auction held Jan-Feb 2017, as developers rejected offer to reduce tariff bid of INR 4.40 ($0.07)/kWh.

The government of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu this week signed MoUs with four companies to set up solar plants, after 16 companies successfully bid for 1.5 GW of capacity.

After its 1.5 GW tender stirred unprecedented interest among developers attracting technical bids of 3.7 GW, the Tamil Nadu utility is now set to sign PPAs at the rate of INR 3.47 (~$0.054)/kWh for a period of 25 years.

Price of INR 3.47 ($0.053)/kWh set at the 1.5 GW TANGEDCO solar tender by developer Raasi Green Earth Energy, which will develop 100 MW of solar PV at that tariff.

The Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA) is on the lookout for a developer for a 500 MW solar park.

The Tamil Nadu utility is planning to slash its net metering tariff from INR 6.63 – 7.23/kWh to potentially as little as INR 2.20/kWh in response to recent record-low tariffs in the state and as a means to increase uptake of rooftop solar.

The Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency has invited bids for development of ultra mega solar park in the state. In Karnataka, the National Thermal Power Corporation retenders 750 MW of solar capacity at the Pavagada Solar Park.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) announced today that 2.3 GW of new solar projects will be tendered by the corporation shortly, while the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TENGEDCO) has just begun the tendering process for 500 MW of solar PV within the state.
