The 133 MW Puerto Real 1 project is the first phase of a planned 223 MW solar plant in Cádiz. Swiss asset management firm Capital Dynamics last year acquired plant and has also purchased the upcoming 50 MW Puerto Real 2 project.
The solar plant was commissioned last week in Ourique, southern Portugal. The project was developed by UK-based renewable energy company Welink and Chinese engineering services provider China Triumph International Engineering (CTIEC).
A 221 MW solar project in Portugal is now under construction. When complete, it is set to be the largest unsubsidized solar PV project in Europe.
Work on this huge solar project without subsidies is expected to begin in the first quarter of this year.
