AdvanSol launches SC Series Smart String Controller, combining module-level intelligence with string-level architecture
The new solution combines module-level monitoring, optimization and safety features with the scalability and cost advantages of string-based PV systems, offering a new architecture for commercial and industrial solar applications.
AdvanSol has introduced its new SC Series Smart String Controller, expanding its module-level power electronics (MLPE) portfolio. Working together with the company’s MRO Series Module Controllers, the SC Series forms part of AdvanSol’s V3.0 Micro-String Solution, combining module-level intelligence with string-level architecture to deliver a balance of performance, safety and system economics for commercial and industrial (C&I) PV projects.
Today, C&I solar systems mainly rely on two technical approaches: string inverter architectures and microinverter systems. Compared with conventional string inverter solutions, which often require additional optimizers, data control boxes and other devices to achieve module-level management, the SC Series integrates module-level monitoring, optimization and rapid shutdown functions within a unified architecture.
Through AdvanSol’s Acloud EOS cloud platform, system operators can achieve comprehensive monitoring and intelligent operation and maintenance across the entire PV system—from individual modules and strings to the complete plant—helping simplify system design, installation and long-term asset management.
Unlike microinverters, which distribute power conversion to each individual module, the SC Series maintains a string-level architecture while enabling module-level control. According to AdvanSol, this approach combines the scalability and cost advantages of string-based systems with the visibility and optimization capabilities typically associated with module-level solutions, providing a new option for large-scale commercial rooftop applications.
Safety is a key focus of the SC Series. The controller integrates module-level rapid shutdown and AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) arc fault detection, while featuring an IP65-rated enclosure designed for high-temperature, corrosion-resistant and impact-resistant outdoor operation. The product has obtained multiple international certifications, including IEC, CE, FCC and CQC, supporting global deployment.
Designed specifically for C&I rooftop applications, the SC Series features a high-power, compact and lightweight design, enabling flexible installation across a wide range of structures, including steel roofs, concrete rooftops and lightweight metal roofs. The solution is also suitable for complex rooftop environments with obstacles such as skylights, chimneys and ventilation systems, covering projects from kilowatt-scale installations to multi-megawatt PV systems.
As a relatively rare product category within the MLPE sector, the Smart String Controller represents AdvanSol’s approach to addressing the evolving needs of commercial solar markets. Rather than replacing string inverters or microinverters, the SC Series introduces a new system architecture that combines module-level intelligence, string-level efficiency and simplified system deployment for next-generation commercial PV projects.
