GridParity Pilot Plant Proves: AgriPV Works – Demonstrable Successes
First large-scale tracker installation in Bad Sassendorf generates power, secures harvests, and supports biodiversity

The pilot system has a capacity of 933 kWp and produces around 1.25 million kWh of green electricity annually – enough to supply approximately 300 households. At the same time, the land remains in agricultural use: between the module rows, organic grain varieties are cultivated, while biodiversity strips beneath the PV panels promote species richness.

30% More Energy Thanks to Tracking Technology

The system’s distinctive feature lies in its tracking modules: they automatically align with the position of the sun, increasing energy yields by up to 30% compared to conventional fixed systems. Despite its size, the land remains fully farmable, as the trackers can be positioned vertically to allow agricultural machinery to operate.

Positive Practical Experience

Only a few months after commissioning, the operator is already reporting clear advantages – also compared to a reference field without PV: stable yields, flexible farming operations, and added benefits for nature.

At the Intersolar trade fair, farmer Stefan Jatzkowski noted:
”It quickly became clear – after sowing, the agricultural yields beneath the modules were better than on the adjacent reference field. Now the harvest has shown that expectations have even been exceeded.”

Research and Signal Effect

The facility is scientifically monitored by Haus Düsse, North Rhine-Westphalia’s agricultural research and education center. The aim is to study the long-term effects of AgriPV on yields, microclimate, and biodiversity. As a pilot project located in the sensitive environment of a bird protection area, the system proves: agrivoltaics can unite agriculture, energy generation, and nature conservation on the same land.

Now Is the Time for AgriPV

With this pilot plant, GridParity AG shows: AgriPV works – and the time has come for farmers to seize the opportunity.
GridParity AG offers kits for on-farm AgriPV installations up to 1 MW and supports agricultural enterprises from planning through to implementation.
