Repowering old central inverters with new string inverters

In this pv magazine Webinar, we’ll hear about solutions for older pv plants with inverters that are between 6-12 years old and are no longer repairable by manufacturers. With examples from projects in the field which have seen Solis teams working with installers to provide a better solution.

Ageing PV plant inverters represent a conundrum for plant owners: plants lose money as equipment fails, but repair costs are high and replacements aren’t possible. One solution being implemented in the field across the Americas, Europe, Australia, and more, is replacing older central inverters with utility-sized string inverters as part of a repowering effort for asset owners. Repowering can boost additional energy yield, reduce O&M, and increase returns.

In Europe, estimates have suggested that more than 40 GW of PV capacity installed in projects larger than 100 kW are at least six years old.

In this pv magazine Webinar, we’ll hear about solutions for older pv plants with inverters that are between 6-12 years old and are no longer repairable by manufacturers. With examples from projects in the field which have seen Solis teams working with installers to provide a better solution.

Igor Mogilevski, product solutions and engineering director North America at Solis, will present details and real-world examples where Solis has successfully implemented new inverters when repowering Satcon PowerGate Plus and AE 500NX and 500NX-1kV inverters, including key design notes, wiring diagrams, site installation pictures, and more.

 pv magazine Webinar content:

  • Recap of Solis products and solution portfolio across the globe, and manufacturing base expansion
  • Repowering and inverter replacement discussion
  • Real-world examples and case studies from repowering
  • Q&A

Questions can be submitted beforehand or during the webinar. Tristan Rayner, editor at pv magazine, will be the moderator of this webinar.
