Italy awards full 30 MW quota in second floating PV tender
Italy’s second FER2 auction for floating solar projects on inland waters has allocated its entire 30 MW quota, following weak participation in the first round. Eight projects secured capacity, while two were excluded despite offering a 2% discount on the reference tariff.

Italy’s solar capacity could reach 137 GW by 2040, grid operators say
Italy’s installed solar PV capacity is expected to increase from 43.5 GW at the end of 2025 to 82.3 GW by 2030, before reaching between 114 GW and 137 GW by 2040, according to new scenarios published by grid operators Terna and Snam. The projections also point to significant growth in energy storage, electrification and electricity flows between market zones.
Italy sets rules for exit from Conto Energia PV incentive scheme, requires EU-made modules for repowering
Italy has introduced a voluntary mechanism allowing up to 10 GW of PV capacity under the first four Conto Energia schemes to exit incentives early from 2028. Eligible projects must undergo full repowering with EU-made modules by the end of 2030, with minimum energy-yield increases and specific rules for selling the resulting electricity.
