Exhibitors at decarbXpo will be showcasing products and services that will help industrial companies to plan out their ideal route to climate neutrality. Plug and Play Sustainability NRW specializes in matching up large companies and startups. The Düsseldorf Office of Economic Development is sponsoring the platform’s first appearance at the exhibition.

“Düsseldorf has set itself the target of becoming climate neutral by 2035 and made a climate pact with the local business community last October. As an international and innovative business location with a network of industrial companies and scientific institutions and an infrastructure strong enough to support startups, Düsseldorf is well positioned to play an important part in helping businesses to reduce their CO2 emissions,” says Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller.

Global Plug and Play Network Supports Startups

Plug and Play selects startups from its global network of 50 locations that are following particularly promising paths with their innovations. Following that rigorous selection process, Plug and Play helps the successful candidates to work on their business models.

And now Plug and Play is set to showcase the results at decarbXpo. The selected startups have come up with all kinds of methods industrial companies can deploy to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Here are just some of the innovations due to be put in the spotlight:

  • The Hydroplace platform is a hydrogen marketplace that also provides fully integrated solutions that incorporate demand planning and delivery or collection.
  • Carbon ratings based on machine learning from Sylvera help companies to identify the most effective and most sustainable projects to help them offset their emissions.
  • NeoCarbon has developed a way of capturing CO2 directly from ambient air that is ten times more cost-effective than any other method out there.
  • Orbio Earth provides companies with information based on satellite data that allows them to detect and resolve methane leaks in their systems.

“The transformation of the economy and society towards climate neutrality is one of the central common tasks of our time. To achieve our ambitious goals, we need energy-saving and climate-friendly ideas as well as technologies. decarbXpo shows what is possible in the areas of energy efficiency, storage systems and hydrogen use. It is precisely this close exchange between start-ups and industry that is indispensable for a successful transformation,” says Mona Neubaur, Deputy Premier and Minister for Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy of the State of North Rhine Westphalia.

“The partnership with Plug and Play is a win-win all round. Our trade visitors will be able to meet a carefully curated group of innovative startups. And those new companies will have the opportunity to introduce themselves to a highly engaged audience and make promising professional contacts,” says Malte Seifert, Project Director for decarbXpo at Messe Düsseldorf.

Further Innovations in the Startup International Special Area

A whole host of other startups from around the world will be presenting their own innovations alongside the Plug and Play representatives. Energy storage solutions are high on the agenda. French company Boreales Energy has developed a thermal accumulator system involving the use of phase change materials, while Swiss startup Green Y has designed a compressed air storage solution that enables the heat and cold generated during compression and decompression to be used for heating and cooling. Electroder, meanwhile, is specializing in lithium batteries.

Startups are being offered the chance to exhibit in the Startup International special area as part of an attractive offer. The package includes an exhibition stand and an introduction during the startup session at the decarbXpo Forum. Spaces are still available for any startups that are interested in getting involved.
