What goes into the report

Results from the C&I Census will be combined with insights from SunWiz and the Orkestra platform to produce a free industry report covering business confidence, solar PV trends, battery adoption, financing, after-sales services, EV charging and more.

Orkestra’s platform is used by hundreds of teams globally to model and manage C&I solar and battery projects, giving the company a window into how projects are being designed, sized and financed across markets. SunWiz has tracked the solar market for over 15 years through its annual PV Market Report and Battery Market Report.

The report will be delivered to participants via a webinar with industry experts and published as a downloadable PDF.

What the APAC census revealed in 2025

The census ran for the first time across Australia and New Zealand in 2025, where 119 industry professionals contributed. That research produced some clear signals:

● 82% reported increased demand for batteries

● 71% were confident in business growth, but only 48% planned to hire, signalling cautious expansion even in a growing market.

● Only 25% felt they had successfully scaled battery rollouts

● 81% identified existing customers as central to their growth strategy.

● Trust and technical capability ranked above price as primary competitive advantages.

The 2026 census will build the first equivalent dataset for C&I professionals across Europe.

“There’s plenty of market-level data on European solar, but very little about what’s actually happening inside C&I businesses — how they’re selling batteries, how they’re financing projects, where they’re getting stuck. That’s what the census is designed to surface. Last year’s results in our Australian census gave us insights that went beyond a report — they helped shape regulatory conversations, informed educational resources and contributed to real progress across the industry. We want to build the same foundation for the UK and European markets.” said James Allston, Co-Founder and Head of Growth, Orkestra Energy.

“The APAC census told us things that market reports alone can’t — like the fact that 82% of the market was seeing battery demand surge, but only a quarter had figured out how to scale delivery. When you put survey responses alongside platform data and market intelligence, you get a picture sharp enough to actually act on. Bringing the same research to Europe gives the industry its first real benchmark for how C&I solar businesses are operating across these markets.” said Warwick Johnston, Founder of SunWiz.

Who should take part

The census is for anyone working in commercial and industrial solar and batteries: installers, EPCs, energy consultants, equipment manufacturers, wholesalers, energy retailers and asset managers. The more professionals who respond, the more useful the data is for everyone.

The survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. All responses are anonymous in the published report, and one respondent will be selected at random to receive €1,000 cash. Take the survey here.
