BayWa r.e, a leading global developer, operations and maintenance (O&M) service provider, solar wholesaler and energy solutions provider has used Huawei’s 1500 V Smart PV Solution exclusively for solar park Don Rodrigo, in southern Spain. Don Rodrigo is currently the largest project realized by BayWa r.e.
The capacity of Don Rodrigo is 175 MW and the project is expected to achieve an annual output of 300 GWh – the annual electricity consumption of around 93,000 Spanish homes. Construction of the plant with Huawei 1500 V smart string inverters was completed in December. The BayWa r.e. service team will be responsible for technical operation.
The subsidy-free Don Rodrigo plant opted for the Huawei 1500 V Smart PV Solution, with its higher yields, smart O&M and lower cost proving attractive. With multi-MPPT design, the string inverter minimizes PV string mismatch and the plant yield can be increased 1.5%-2%. Fully sealed, the product’s IP65 protection makes the inverter perform better when faced with dust cold weather or overcast days. Compared with an 1100 V system, the 1500 V solution achieves lower balance of system costs.
Huawei’s 1500 V Smart PV Solution provides vast benefits such as a lower levelized cost of electricity, higher yields, safe and reliable output and a lower failure rate for the industry as it moves into a post-subsidy era, helping to reach grid parity. With the Huawei Smart PV Solution, the project will set the benchmark for the digitalization of the Spanish solar industry.
