Dresden/Munich June 1, 2017 – SOLARWATT has received the prestigious “ees Award 2017” for its new MyReserve Matrix battery. The top-level innovation award is presented annually at the ees / Intersolar Europe trade fair for future-oriented developments in the power storage segment. SOLARWATT also took the prize home in 2015 for the first-generation MyReserve. “We are very pleased to have won this prestigious award again. We see this as an incentive to continue our development of innovative and, above all, economic solutions,” says SOLARWATT Managing Director, Detlef Neuhaus.
The Dresden-based solar company exited the mass market for modules in 2012 and has since then focused wholly and successfully on the development of intelligent photovoltaic systems. “We have invested a great deal in research and development for several years – it is now paying off,” adds Carsten Bovenschen, Managing Director Finance & Human Resources.
MyReserve Matrix is completely modular and sets new standards for the battery storage market. The battery module and control unit are each housed in solid, highly secure aluminum blocks, so no additional cladding is required. Each individual module is the size of a shoebox and weighs less than 25 kg. By combining these two basic components, any storage capacity from 2 kWh to 2 MWh can be configured. The SOLARWATT battery is equally suited for private household use and commercial storage. MyReserve Matrix is also flexible in terms of performance: each connected battery module increases performance by 800 kilowatts.
“Our new battery storage system is suitable for all conceivable applications and can be perfectly adapted to each individual customer’s needs. This way, everyone can get the maximum cost-effectiveness from their PV system,” says Neuhaus.
The new SOLARWATT battery system has been reduced to the essentials, which in turn reduces storage, transport, and installation costs for the installer. This new technology has set new standards in efficiency. Silicon carbide semiconductors have been used to increase the efficiency of the control unit to more than 98 percent. The innovative material also reduces heat generation in the MyReserve module during operation. This makes the battery more efficient and even more suitable for regions with high temperatures.
The battery can be uniquely configured from just two core elements and is scalable to any capacity or performance requirement. “In concrete terms this means that if you want to use the new MyReserve Matrix for industrial storage in an automotive workshop, you simply install it to dimensions that fit your installed PV panels and your energy requirements,” says Detlef Neuhaus. The new battery can be ordered immediately and deliveries will start on August 1st of this year.
In the future MyReserve Matrix will also be able to store electricity generated by other sources such as wind power plants or fuel cells. “The Matrix battery was intentionally designed for open interfaces,” says Dr. Olaf Wollersheim, Managing Director of the SOLARWATT INNOVATION technology centre. “It will allow us to respond flexibly to changing demands from our customers for their energy storage. We are already preparing, from a technical standpoint, for multi-input energy service networks.”
The award ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 31st, at ees / Intersolar Europe in Munich. SOLARWATT CEO Detlef Neuhaus and Board Chairman, Dr. Johannes Fritz accepted the prize for the MyReserve Matrix battery.
EasyIn: glass-glass module replaces roof tiles and pays for itself
At Intersolar, SOLARWATT also presented the in-roof EasyIn module, which is newly available in an ultra-robust, double-paned glass version. Due to the resilience of its glass-glass modules, SOLARWATT EasyIn also comes with an outstanding 30-year product and performance guarantees. “The deep-black EasyIn modules produce green energy and look fantastic: they almost finance themselves. With our tried and tested glass-glass technology, EasyIn is now just as durable as a conventionally tiled roof structure,” says Neuhaus.
Coming soon: 100 Percent Worry-Free
At the press conference on Thursday, SOLARWATT's CEO Detlef Neuhaus announced an upcoming product. This is an “all-round worry-free package” for end customers, which goes beyond the provision of technologically innovative photovoltaic components. “We offer our customers absolute freedom from worry over all their energy supply needs,” says Neuhaus. The product is expected to be launched in autumn of this year.
