This marks the first installation in the region completed by Upsolar’s Project Development Department.

The ground-mounted project is comprised of three-500 kW systems and more than 6,500 UP-M230P modules. The systems were built by engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firms Sun El A.E. and Gortys Ltd. “Thanks to the hard work of our partners, we were able to quickly complete this project and begin supplying clean power to the local grid,” said Ioannis Markatatos, Country Manager for Upsolar Greece.

“The completion of this project is an important milestone for Upsolar Greece and a testament to our commitment to providing the best service possible to our clients.” Upsolar first entered the Greek market in 2010 and has since shipped more than 68 MW of modules to the region. For the Kozani project, Upsolar accessed local incentives made available by the Greek government to promote adoption of renewable energy across the region.

“In the current economic climate, securing the funding necessary for a project of this size is extremely difficult, said Sébastien Prioux, Project Development Director for Upsolar Group. “Supported by the quality and durability of our modules, we were able to overcome this hurdle and offer a strong contribution to Greece’s long-term goal of reaching 40 percent renewable energy by 2020.”
