Italy’s TerniEnergia unveils South African plans

TerniEnergia South Africa Ltd is located in Cape Town. Set up as part of TerniEnergia’s internationalization strategy, the company will be involved in renewable energy, and the recovery of materials and energy in both South Africa and its neighboring countries, according to a statement released.

As a first step, the South African subsidiary will provide EPC services to a 9.5 MW photovoltaic project for an unnamed European utility. Located at Upington airport, the plant is scheduled to come online by the end of next October.

TerniEnergia added that it provided preparatory EPC and O&M services to a further seven photovoltaic projects worth 280 MW in South Africa, and that it was involved in preparatory activities for other photovoltaic plants in neighboring countries. It declined to reveal further details, however.
