Mild oxalic acid process enables efficient indium recovery from heterojunction solar cells
A mild oxalic-acid-based hydrometallurgical process enables efficient indium recovery from indium tin oxide in solar cell waste while simultaneously releasing silver grids. The approach achieves high-purity indium oxide production through selective leaching, precipitation, and calcination under optimized conditions.

Chinese scientists build 27.3%-efficient inverted perovskite solar cell based on dual-molecule interface
Researchers in China developed a dual-molecule interfacial layer for inverted perovskite solar cells that locks molecular ordering, suppresses defects and stress, and improves charge extraction and interfacial stability. The optimized devices reach 27.3% efficiency and maintained strong operational stability under long-term light soaking and outdoor testing.
New research shows ground-mounted PV needs enhanced earthing systems to safely manage lightning-induced step voltages
Large ground-mounted PV plants face significant lightning-induced transient voltages that can increase step-voltage hazards, especially in open, high-exposure terrains, requiring carefully designed earthing and bonding systems. Researchers from Austria used frequency-resolved electromagnetic simulations to show that equipotential bonding reduces risks, but effectiveness depends strongly on soil resistivity and is not guaranteed by standard grounding resistance limits alone.

Glass frit optimization in silver paste leads to measurable gains in solar cell efficiency
Researchers in China found that fine tuning the lead(II) oxide (PbO) and silicon dioxide (SiO₂) molar ratio in silver paste glass frits affects silver-silicon contact resistance in crystalline silicon solar cells. They found that an intermediate ratio optimizes interfacial structure, lowering contact resistance and improving efficiency by 1 percentage point.
Vertical agrivoltaics for oats
Researchers in Sweden studied oat production under a vertical agrivoltaic system during the 2024 growing season, comparing it with ground-mounted and open-field conditions. Results showed that crop performance was generally higher under agrivoltaic systems, highlighting their potential for productive dual land use.
