Chinese scientists achieve record-breaking 27.35% efficiency for perovskite-organic tandem solar cell
Nanjing University researchers developed a perovskite-organic tandem solar cell using a novel low-bandgap acceptor to boost near-infrared light harvesting and improve photocurrent matching. The device achieved a 27.35% efficiency, while retaining 80% of its initial performance after 744 hours of continuous illumination.
Longi, Soochow University unveil 34.0% perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell based on dual-anchored interfacial design
Soochow University and Longi researchers developed a ZrO₂ interfacial strategy that reduces recombination and leakage while improving charge extraction in perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells. The resulting device achieved 2.014 V open-circuit voltage and retained 84% of its initial efficiency after 2,000 hours.

Yemen’s largest solar plant set to double to 240 MW
Yemen is expanding its largest solar power plant in Aden from 120 MW to 240 MW with UAE funding, while plans for a separate 50 MW project in Hadhramaut are also advancing. The projects form part of a growing pipeline of utility-scale solar developments across the country.

Jordan issues first 200 renewables approvals under new grid-connection rules
Jordan’s energy regulator has approved the first 200 renewable energy systems under the country’s amended Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Law. The approvals cover residential and other eligible applicants, as authorities begin processing pending grid-connection requests nationwide.
Latvia expands residential solar and battery rebate scheme
Latvia has expanded its €85 million household renewable energy support program, raising grants for eligible households and increasing the minimum supported battery capacity from 5 kWh to 10 kWh. The scheme had supported 15,700 projects as of May 2026, including more than 14,000 applications for solar PV and over 2,000 for battery storage.
