A closer look at Fred. Olsen 1848’s load-decoupled modular floating PV system for nearshore applications
In an interview with pv magazine, Fred. Olsen 1848 CTO Geir Grimsrud discussed the company’s Brizo floating PV technology, a modular rope-mesh platform designed to withstand harsh nearshore conditions while simplifying installation and maintenance.
Grimsrud also outlined the system’s testing and validation with DNV and the company’s plans to move the technology toward commercial deployment and compliance with new floating PV standards.
How to reduce abrasion damage to PV module antisoiling coatings during robotic cleaning
Researchers in India found that dust during robotic cleaning can dramatically accelerate the degradation of hydrophobic antisoiling coatings on PV modules. Softer brushes, higher cleaning speeds, optimized cleaning intervals, and appropriate brush rotation can significantly extend coating lifetime.
Korean researchers achieve world-record 26.7% efficiency for sub-1 cm² perovskite-CIGS tandem solar cell
The result was confirmed by Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE) and included in the Best Research-Cell Efficiency Chart maintained by the US Department of Energy’s National Laboratory of the Rookies.
