Gas Natural Fenosa has begun construction on a 49 MW PV project, located between the towns of Almodovar del Campo and Puertollano, in the central region of Castilla La Mancha. The project was approved in July 2017.

The company has invested approximately €34 million in the project, which is expected to create around 90 jobs in both the construction and operations and maintenance phases. According to Gas Natural Fenosa, the plant will also exceed the annual electricity demand for residents of the two towns.

The Mayors of both towns were present to unveil the project, and stressed the importance of renewable energy to the region’s future. Castilla La Mancha’s Director of Industry, Energy and Mining, José Luis Cabezas Delgado also pointed to the region’s leadership in renewables, which he said account for 73% of total installed power, compared to 51% at the national level.
