Kanion unveils residential monoblock outdoor heat pumps with 5.15 COP

Chinese manufacturer Kanion has introduced its Deluxe Series of monobloc air-to-water heat pumps for residential and commercial heating, cooling and domestic hot water applications. The systems are available in capacities from 6 kW to 30 kW, with single- and three-phase configurations.

The new product line is positioned as a solution for residential and commercial buildings where space heating, cooling and hot-water production need to be combined in a single hydronic system. Its monobloc configuration keeps the refrigerant circuit within the outdoor unit, potentially simplifying installation compared with split heat-pump systems, according to the manufacturer.

The Kanion Co Deluxe Series R32 Mono air-to-water heat pump comprises single-phase models rated from 6 kW to 16 kW, while three-phase versions are available with capacities of 16 kW, 18 kW, 22 kW, 26 kW and 30 kW, according to technical specifications published by Kanion’s Greek distributor.

The single-phase units operate at 220–240 V and 50 Hz, while the three-phase models use a 380–415 V, 50 Hz supply. The systems use difluoromethane (R32) refrigerant and incorporate a 3D DC inverter, a Wilo circulator and what Kanion describes as “Green Fin” technology, which consists of a protective coating applied to the fins of the outdoor heat exchanger.

The coating is intended to improve the coil’s resistance to corrosion caused by moisture and other environmental exposure, while facilitating drainage from the heat-exchanger surface. This can be particularly relevant for outdoor installations exposed to humid, polluted or coastal environments. Kanion’s published material does not, however, provide detailed information on the coating’s chemical composition or quantify any resulting improvement in heat-exchanger lifetime.

For the single-phase range, the reported coefficient of performance (COP) reaches 5.15 for the 8 kW model, while COP values for the other modles range from 4.50 to 4.95. Seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) ranges from 4.53 to 5.13, while seasonal energy efficiency ratios (SEER) range from 4.62 to 5.87.

The three-phase units have COP values between 3.91 and 4.70 and SCOP values between 3.14 and 4.60, depending on model and operating conditions. Kanion lists an A+++ energy efficiency rating at a 35 C water temperature under warm-climate conditions.

The heat pumps are designed to operate at outdoor temperatures between −25 C and 43 C and can deliver water at temperatures of up to 65 C. This makes the series suitable for low-temperature heating systems as well as applications requiring higher water temperatures, although actual performance depends on operating conditions and system design, the company said.

The smallest single-phase models measure 1,295 mm × 792 mm × 429 mm, while larger units use dimensions of 1,385 mm × 945 mm × 526 mm. Sound power levels for the single-phase models range from 58 dB to 68 dB. The three-phase range reaches sound power levels of up to 77 dB for the 30 kW model.

The company offers a five-year warranty for the compressor and two years for other components.
