CdTe modules: At its production facility in Germany’s ‘Solar Valley,’ Calyxo is producing CdTe modules at production costs moving towards $0.20/W, many of which are destined for repowering PV plants across Europe. pv magazine caught up with Calyxo CTO and COO Michael Bauer, to discuss the company’s latest developments.
Michael Bauer has been CTO and COO at Calyxo since 2008, and was previously Director of Process Development at Q Cells. CdTe module producer Calyxo was founded by Q Cells and Solar Fields (USA) in 2005.

pv magazine: What is the current capacity of Calyxo’s German production facility, and how much of this is typically utilized? Michael Bauer: The current capacity is 60 MW running, which will be expanded to 100 MW by de-bottlenecking the line this year.
