The conference will provide the latest research project statistics and views on the MENA renewables sector and will explore where the global energy market is heading and how the MENA region fits into the larger picture, exploring the plans for the US$ 3.5 billion Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park which is Dubai's first mega solar power project, the challenges of meeting future regional power targets across the region, and analysing finance and investment opportunities in the sector.

Kishan Khoday, Deputy Resident Representative, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) said ‘The MEED MENA Renewable Energy conference is a timely gathering to review regional trends in expanding clean energy. The UN advocates a global target of doubling the share of renewables in the energy mix by 2030, and signs are positive. In 2011, US$257 billion was invested globally in renewable energy, with more than 118 countries setting renewable strategies and policies. Major economies are leading the way, and efforts in the Arab region are critical to achieving the global vision.”
