BessCare launches open-methodology decision tools and a sourced seven-market dataset for European storage buyers
The tools address the point at which storage buyers have the least help: comparing offers. A C&I buyer typically receives three quotes built on different scopes, different warranty wording and different assumptions behind the payback case. Independent technical advice exists, but it is priced for utility-scale project finance rather than for a €400,000 site.
The three tools now live are a tender review, a price and terms benchmark, and a payback model. Each runs on local tariffs, network charges and support schemes rather than on European averages.
Alongside the tools, BessCare has published a dataset covering Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia and Croatia: wholesale and network cost structures, support mechanisms, grid connection requirements and the market mechanisms storage can access. Every figure carries a source link and the date it was retrieved. Where a parameter could not be verified, the dataset says so rather than estimating.
The seven markets were chosen because that is where public money is currently moving and where local-language coverage is thinnest. Romania has committed grants for standalone storage; Bulgaria’s RESTORE programme is among the largest storage support schemes in Europe by ratio to grid size; Serbia opens its ancillary services market in 2026; Hungary has run a subsidised storage auction and opened its capacity market to storage.
“Buyers are not short of opinions about storage. They are short of a number they can check,” said Liang Sun, publisher of BessCare. “So we publish the method as well as the result. If someone disagrees with our payback figure, they can see exactly which assumption we used and argue with it. That is the point.”
BessCare labels all advertising, sponsored content and press releases, and does not sell scores or rankings. The tools and the dataset are free and require no registration.
The Serbian and Croatian editions launch in the fourth quarter of 2026.
