Ikea will install more than 39,000 solar panels across 10 UK stores

The chain is installing GS-Solar panels on the roofs of its stores. Branches in Milton Keynes, Edmonton (north London), Southampton and Warrington have each been fitted with 4,000 panels in the past few weeks.

In all, Ikea expects to install 39,000 thin film solar panels across the nation.
Managing Director from GS-Solar UK, Michael Soon commented: “The installations with Ikea and the launch of our office in London, will help us secure a solid foundation within the UK. Our goal is to set up a solid distribution network for our modules with local companies throughout the country and offer help and support, including a unique full turnkey solution to our customers.”
GS-Solar UK is a subsidiary of a large solar thin film manufacturer from China offering top quality solar modules globally. GS-Solar modules are better suited for weather conditions in the UK and have been shown to perform well during non-optimum sun light conditions.
