PowerHill in Action: Dunext Unifies Solar Assets for a Major Romanian Bakery

For a well-established bakery group in Mureș, Romania, energy cost control is critical to maintaining production efficiency. The facility had proactively installed two separate photovoltaic plants (300kW and 400kW) at its facility, but operating as independent systems, they limited the site’s ability to fully utilize its solar generation.

The challenge was clear: to technically unify these two discrete PV assets into a single, optimized energy system with the primary goal of maximizing solar self-consumption to reduce operational costs, while enhancing overall site resilience.

Dunext, in partnership with B2B Synergy, delivered a solution deploying three liquid-cooled PowerHill 233kWh energy storage systems. This integration transformed a legacy setup into a high-performance energy ecosystem designed for financial and operational excellence.

From Technical Unification to Tangible Value The project delivered measurable outcomes through targeted technical solutions:

1. Maximized Solar Self-Consumption: By merging two independent PV plants, compatible with two Huawei smart loggers into one BESS, the PowerHill system now stores surplus solar energy generated midday and dispatches it during evening hours. This drastically increases on-site renewable consumption, eliminating waste and fully leveraging prior investments.

2. Strategic Peak Shaving for Cost Reduction: Engineered to target high-tariff periods (15:00–20:00), the system delivers approximately 700 kWh in daily energy savings by dispatching stored energy when electricity costs are highest, converting technical capability into predictable financial return.

3. Enhanced Grid Interactivity: Implementing a precise, controlled grid export limit of 240kW, more complex than simple zero-export, enables refined energy flow management and greater operational flexibility.

4. Strengthened Operational Resilience: The PowerHill BESS integrates with the site’s existing diesel generator, forming a robust backup solution that safeguards temperature-sensitive production lines, ensuring uninterrupted operation.

A Verified Model for Industrial Energy Optimization

Successfully delivered by Dunext’s local experts, this project has earned strong client satisfaction for its seamless execution and performance. It demonstrates a practical, replicable model for C&I energy optimization. Customized to the bakery’s load and

schedule, the project proves that intelligent asset integration yields greater returns than mere capacity expansion. For businesses pursuing cost reduction and resilience, leveraging local expertise for strategic integration is a proven path to turning distributed energy into lasting operational competitiveness.
