According to the terms of agreement, RP Global has purchased 5 SPVs owning the rights to five early- to medium-stage projects located in Sardinia. The projects are expected to be granted full authorization by Q1 2024 and they generally enjoy favourable irradiation conditions and accessible connection to the grid. Not only will these projects produce clean energy while enhancing sustainable food production, but they will contribute to Italy’s goals to cut carbon emissions by 60% by 2030. Once completed, the Agri-PV projects will generate enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of over 120 000 households, saving around 169 000 tonnes CO2e per year.

With over 1,5 GW(p) of solar PV and wind capacity under development in Italy and > 10 GW(p) in total, RP Global has a significant solar PV development portfolio in Europe.

RP Global was advised on this transaction by Giulio Giuggioli, Head of Agnoli & Giuggioli, while Giraffe Clean Energy was advised by Filippo Manaresi, Head of Energy at Deloitte Legal.

Giuseppe Truglio, Country Manager of RP Global stated: “This acquisition represents a very important step forward for the growth of RP Global in Italy. We target to reach 2,5 GW(p) of ready to build projects by the end of 2026 and we are fully committed to diversifying our pipeline in terms of regions and project size. We also strongly believe in agri-PV which allows biodiversity to be preserved and protected while clean energy is produced at zero margin cost.”

Nicola Di Agostino, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Giraffe Clean Energy stated: “We are extremely proud to be contributing to the transitioning of the country to a greener tomorrow by trying and tackling the current energy and climate crisis. We are also pleased to be collaborating in such mission with a world-wide partner such as RP Global.” Mauro Astolfi, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Giraffe Clean Energy, adds that: “Our pipeline is growing and we are targeting a diversified pipeline in several regions as well as different project sizes. We are trying our best to contribute to the fight against the current energy crisis.”
