Soventix further expands its position as a leading project developer for solar power plants in the Caribbean

Soventix GmbH, an international project developer for solar power plants, has successfully completed and commissioned four rooftop solar power plants in the Dominican Republic.

Soventix is thus further expanding its position as a leading project developer for solar power plants in the Caribbean. The plants in the Santo Domingo area generate more than 2 million kilowatt hours of environmentally friendly electricity annually, which is used for their own commercial use.

“We are delighted about the completion of the projects that we have successfully implemented together with our regional partners. Companies are showing a very high level of interest in solar rooftop systems. They make regional companies less dependent on the failure-prone power supply, are economically attractive and enable CO2 savings,” says Lutz Göbel, International Project Manager, Soventix GmbH.

Attractive prospects for solar energy in the Dominican Republic

The unstable electricity grid and high electricity prices make the island state an attractive area for photovoltaic systems due to its good irradiation values. Experts predict that renewable energies will become increasingly important in the Dominican Republic in terms of access to sustainable and cost-effective electricity. The government wants to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 65% by 2030 and is therefore planning to further promote solar energy.

“Today’s photovoltaic is already competitive in many parts of the country compared to conventional power generation from traditional energy sources due to the excellent irradiation values. This creates attractive prospects for international investors. We have already installed plants with a rated output of around 40 megawatts in the Dominican Republic and would like to further expand our involvement in this market,” says Thorsten Preugschas, CEO of the Soventix Group.
