TrinaBESS successfully completed the first shipment in its ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ project
The shipment indicated that TrinaBESS energy storage products have been highly recognized and trusted by Maldives Ministry of Environment and Energy and marked the further development we have made in the active participation of the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’.
The lands of the Maldives are the one thousand islands that are separated from each other and unable to build large power stations to unified power supply. Each island will basically establish its own diesel power plant.
During the peak, 81 % of the country’s electricity is generated from burning diesel. In order to prevent the sea level from rising rapidly, the Maldives government announced that it will abandon the traditional diesel power generation, vigorously develop renewable energy and become the world’s first country to achieve ‘carbon neutral’ by 2020.
As a leader in the energy storage industry and an advocate for green energy adoption, TrinaBESS, together with the Maldives Ministry of Environment and Energy, work together to provide PV + energy storage microgrid solutions for the islands of the Maldives.
The project, combining the existing diesel-powered electricity plants, is highly improve the safety, stability and environmental protection of electricity consumption, and will become the main power grid on the island and the main source of electricity for residents, hospitals, kindergartens, docks and schools. The solution is poised to solve the problem of living electricity consumption for about 11,000 residents.

At the same time, SCADA allows us to monitor real-time data on the island’s meteorology, inverters, combiner boxes, photovoltaic, energy storage and diesel fuel, and coordinate the load, the energy deployment and control to maintain the smooth output of energy. I believe the successful completion of the Maldives project will have a good reference for the smart micro-grid projects of China and the Belt and Road Initiative countries.”
