On September 24, TÜV Rheinland Greater China, the international independent third-party testing, inspection, and certification organization, convened the 11th “All Quality Matters” Solar & Storage Congress and Awards Ceremony in Changzhou. The event brought together nearly 200 distinguished experts, scholars, and business leaders from the photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage industries. Through a dynamic agenda of data releases, keynote speeches, white paper presentations, and leadership forums, participants examined pressing challenges, exchanged strategies, and shared pioneering practices to drive the sector’s long-term development.

Li Junfeng, Executive Director of the China Energy Research Society, reflected on the industry’s leap from exploration to maturity over the past decade. He remarked: “TÜV Rheinland has built an open, fair, and impartial platform that not only sets benchmarks for quality but also supports Chinese solar and storage products in reaching global markets.”

Frank Piller, Global Senior Vice President of Solar and Commercial Products Services at TÜV Rheinland, noted: “For 11 consecutive years, the Solar & Storage Congress has captured the industry’s breakthroughs and achievements, while honoring the dedication of our partners. Looking ahead, we will continue to work hand in hand with our clients and partners, upholding quality at the core and fostering innovation to drive high-quality development.”

Adding to the global outlook, Zhang Cheng, Greater China representative of BloombergNEF, delivered forward-looking insights into the global solar and storage market, offering enterprises valuable guidance in an increasingly complex and fast-evolving environment.

White Paper on PV Technology and Quality Development Released

Against the backdrop of accelerated adoption of high-efficiency N-type cells, breakthroughs in perovskite research, and diversified application scenarios lowering the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE), TÜV Rheinland and Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Solar Research Center jointly authored the White Paper on Photovoltaic Technology and Quality Development, officially released at the Congress.

The white paper provides a comprehensive overview of PV technology evolution and future trends, covering generational transitions from P-type to N-type cells, mainstream and cutting-edge pathways such as TOPCon, HJT, BC, and perovskite, as well as the rise of new applications including BIPV and offshore PV. It also analyzes the global and Chinese market landscape, testing and quality assurance systems, and the challenges posed by trade barriers and sustainability requirements.

In addition, TÜV Rheinland unveiled the latest Key Technical Data on Precise Measurement of PV Modules. This dataset consolidates statistical insights into the efficiency, electrical characteristics, and reliability performance of mainstream and emerging PV technologies, highlighting the trends and challenges shaping the industry’s next phase of innovation.
