Global Solar Alliance presents new initiatives at SPI

Share

The tradeshow alliance was initiated by Solar Power International (SPI), Solar Expo Verona and SNEC PV Power Expo (Shanghai) this May. An important goal is to strengthen awareness and advocacy for photovoltaics, and to foucs on emerging markets.

One initiative to reach this goal is the hosting of an annual Global Solar Summit, as Thomas P. Kimbis, vice president of SEIA, the U.S.-based Solar Energy Industries Association underlined at this year's SPI. The summit will start 2013 in Milano, close to the Solar Expo in Verona. In the future, the summit will be held in emerging markets, to accelerate the development of photovoltaics there.

As a second initiative, the alliance will offer corporate membership with a package of services as reduced fees for membership events. "We encourage also smaller trade shows and conferences, especially in emerging markets to join us and our global network to share knowledge and information," Kimbis said. In 2013, the corporate membership will be free of charge, he added.
