Reform of Mexico’s electricity market is showing promise while pioneering projects are beginning to go ahead. The Durango TAI is one such utility scale solar array with JinkoSolar today announcing that it has picked up a 49.8 MW supply order for the project.

Esol Energy de Mexico is the developer Durango TAI. EPC is being carried out by TSK Electrónica y Electricidad, a subsidiary of Spanish conglomerate TSK Group.

Canadian Solar had previously supplied 8.7 MW to Durango TAI-I, which was completed in Q1, 2015.

Durango TAI has previously been mooted to reach a capacity of 200 MW when completed. Jinko will ship the 49.8 MW it will supply this year.

“We are glad to cooperate with Eosol and TSK on Mexico’s largest solar PV plant,” said Xiande Li, Chairman of JinkoSolar,“This milestone project was carried out thanks to the reliability, knowhow and the synergy among all partners involved. We look forward to collaborating with Eosol and TSK on future projects.”
