The figures from GTM Research show that NEXTracker was responsible for 30% of tracker shipments in 2016, a 6% increase on the previous year. U.S. manufacturers continued to lead in terms of volume, however GTM’s figures also showed that the market became less concentrated in 2016, with the top four suppliers responsible for 64% of global shipments, down from 74% in 2015.

“This milestone furthers NEXTrackers global leadership position,” says NEXTracker CEO Dan Shugar. “We’ve been able to achieve this position by continuously listening to customers and incorporating their objectives into the product. By applying data science, we can maximize energy yield and optimize operations. Through our parent company Flex, we have been able to quickly expand into complex markets like India and Brazil.”

According to a NEXTracker press release, 7.4 GW of its NX Horizon PV systems have been sold, with installations in more than 11 countries.

The figures released by GTM also show NEXTracker as the market leader in the U.S., with a 41% share of total single axis tracker shipments. NEXTracker says that more than 3 GW of its 2016 installations are located in the U.S.

The company also supplied major projects in India, a market which is expected to see dramatic expansion over the coming years. Last month, NEXTracker announced that it had expanded deals with local manufacturing partners, increasing the volume of locally produced steel for its Indian operations to 80%. The company says this move will reduce it shipment times by up to 50%.
