Meyer Burger receives new equipment order worth CHF 22 million

Swiss PV equipment supplier Meyer Burger has received a further order for its MAiA PERC production platform SiNA cell coating system from an existing customer based in Asia. The combined contract for both technologies amounts to CHF 22 million ($23.2 million).

Net sales reached CHF 212.3 million ($218 million), which is 2.5% lower compared to the previous year period (H1 2016 CHF 217.8 million ($223.6 million), which the company attributes to negative currency effects amounting to around CHF 2.6 million or -1.2% in the first half of 2017.

Meyer Burger today announced completion of the contract for a new equipment order, consisting of both MB PERC cell technology and SiNA cell coating system.

The buyer, an existing customer of Meyer Burger, reportedly plans to upgrade and expand its production volume for high efficiency PERC cells. The order volume of approximately CHF 22 million is expected to be recognized in 2018.

In June, Meyer Burger announced that it would be temporarily increasing production of its MB PERC technology in order to keep up with demand, after receiving another order worth more than $80 million.

Last week, the company also launched an updated MAiA production tool, the MAiA EVO. One order for the new tool has already been placed by Chinese manufacturer LONGi Solar.
