Clean Capital Energy and enernovum are further expanding their photovoltaic pipeline in Italy

The German-Austrian Joint Venture entered the Italian market many years ago and is now taking a big step forward by developing its own projects. Both companies have already been successfully engaged in the Italian PV market for more than ten years and started to develop a pipeline of so-called „Grid parity plants” through a joint venture two years ago. These systems can be operated completely without subsidies. The joint effort of these globally operating companies has led to a pipeline of project rights with a total size of one Gigawatt in central and southern Italy which covers the energy needs of about 300,000 households.

As a result, CCE and enernovum have become one of the largest developers of grid parity projects in Italy. The photovoltaic specialists are planning to build and operate a large part of the pipeline themselves. Currently meetings are held with institutional investors. “We have been active in the Italian business for many years now, hence it was a logical step to push the development of grid parity projects. The first project will also be implemented in the first half of 2021,” explain the managing directors Martin Dürnberger, CCE and Jörg Menyesch, enernovum.
For the development of a photovoltaic portfolio of 200 megawatts, a long-term framework agreement has now been concluded with Hanwha Energy Corporation Europe, a Europe-based subsidiary of Hanwha Energy Corporation (Sejong, South Korea). CCE and enernovum are responsible for the entire development of the portfolio. This transaction was made possible through the involvement of the renowned law firms Dentons and Orrick. Jörg Menyesch is convinced of the chances of this cooperation: “We face a big opportunity with the global player, Hanwha Energy Corporation Europe. Our team is going into this long-term cooperation with great commitment. In many respects, the local conditions are excellent”.

Italy has the appropriate weather conditions required
In recent years, Italy has made an enormous progress in the expansion of renewable energies. These projects further advance the expansion of solar power energy generation in Europe, as Italy has one of the highest levels of solar radiation in Europe and therefore a correspondingly high PV yield. „Looking back on our many years of experience, we were able to be one of the first market participants to develop this extraordinary pipeline, which makes us very proud,” declared Martin Dürnberger.
“The photovoltaic market is currently changing rapidly”, explain the two managing directors and indicate that today it is no longer a question of offering just a single service or services limited to a single segment, but rather intelligent problem solutions that provide an answer to the indi-vidual challenges of the energy turnaround. The better one bundles ser-vices and products in one offer, the greater the benefit for the customer.
