pv magazine Insight was held on October 3, at Renewable Energy India Expo and moderated by pv magazine Uma Gupta and Mark Hutchins.
India is in the process of realizing enormous ambition for the domestic manufacture of PV modules and other system components. Gigawatt-scale plans are taking shape to cover the entire supply chain for PV modules and their many components, as well as trackers, inverters batteries and other pieces of the PV puzzle.
Keeping quality front of mind will be key for these manufacturers to successfully reach their planned scale and push India’s energy transition forward. In this pv magazine Insight session, we’ll bring together key domestic and international players from across the PV supply chain for an in-depth discussion of the quality and performance issues that have caused concern across the global PV industry.
Among these concerns is a recent increase in broken module glass, noted in many large-scale projects worldwide. Use of glass on both sides of module requires thinner sheets of glass, and module formats have grown larger at the same time – raising concerns about added stress placed on the glass. The many facets of this issue – how the glass itself is made, how it is treated in manufacturing and installation, and long-term conditions in the field, will be discussed in detail.
