Andrea Viaro is responsible for the technical activities at JinkoSolar Europe since 2014, lately overseeing also product developments’ launch in the EU market. He has been working in the PV sector for the last nine years in similar roles at other tier-1 module manufacturer and technical consultancy global firm. His deep knowledge of PV technology and industry, in particular regarding PV modules features and quality, makes him a valued expert in this field.

Lucie Garreau, Technical Manager, EMEA, DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions

Lucie Garreau joined DuPont 19 years ago and has held various positions spanning technical service, R&D, production support and quality management for automotive and microelectronic applications. She began working in photovoltaics in 2009 and has been actively collecting and analyzing data on PV material degradation in the field, to help customers and partners make the right material choices that can help protect their assets, beyond the expected system lifetime.

Johanna Bonilla, Project manager, Analytics and Performance, TÜV Rheinland Energy GmbH

Johanna Bonilla did her bachelor in Electrical Engineering with a 2-years specialization in Power Systems in Ecuador, at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral, ESPOL University. After finishing her studies, she started working as a Planning Analyst of Electrical Distribution Systems at the Ecuadorian state power distribution holding company Corporación Nacional de Electricidad (CNEL EP). She obtained her master's degree in Renewable Energies in Germany, at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. Her master thesis was written in cooperation with TÜV Rheinland on the topic: Electrical Stability of PV Modules Operating in Various Open-air Climates. From then on, she has devoted herself to the analysis of the energy performance of PV technologies and the climatic influences on their output power within the framework of several international projects. Currently, she is pursuing a professional certificate in Solar Energy in Hot Desert climates at the Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar. Her expertise includes PV module characterization and energy yield performance analysis.

Michael will be joined by Andrea Viaro, Head of Technical Service Europe, JinkoSolar, together with Lucie Garreau, Technical Manager, from DuPont and Johanna Bonilla, Project manager, Analytics and Performance, from TÜV Rheinland to discuss the impact of bifacial modules on the LCOE of the projects.

Andrea Viaro will present the benefits of choosing the JinkoSolar bifacial modules for large-scale plants and present simulation results of yield gain expectations. Lucie Garreau will share the highlights from DuPont’s +1GW PV field surveys, the importance of adapting accelerated testing protocols to panel degradation mechanisms observed in the field and highlight the importance of backsheet innovation for bifacial panels, to help ensure long-term reliability and durability. TÜV Rheinland will briefly discuss the measurement procedures for bifacial PV modules from a recently released IEC IEC 60904-1-2, 2019 standard and will present test site results of bifacial and monofacial modules in order to compare energy yields.

Andrea Viaro and Lucie Garreau, will also present the newest innovation from JinkoSolar and DuPont, bifacial modules with DuPont™ Clear Tedlar® film- based backsheet, that has been developed out of the necessity to support the energy market transition from feed-in tariffs and governmental subsidies towards IPP/PPA schemes and grid parity scenario, which requires maximizing kWh yield and PV plant performance while limiting complexity.
