Tata Power-DDL and GIZ sign MoU for India’s renewable energy

Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL), Delhi-based Tata Power DISCOM, and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) have signed a MoU to explore possibilities of collaboration at electric utility level in India.

Both organizations will work jointly to promote the grid-connected solar rooftop PV, energy storage system, electric vehicle and smart grid initiatives, and conduct research and studies related to these areas.

The agreement also includes establishing capacity building programs jointly for channel partners, project developers, financial institutions, government departments, distribution utilities, PSUs, etc.

The MoU was signed on October 24 in New Delhi, in the presence of Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power-DDL, and Joerg Gaebler, principal advisor, GIZ.

Gaebler stated, “Tata Power-DDL is the first utility in India officially joining GIZ in the effort of installing 5GW of distributed solar power by promoting standardized rooftop PV systems for the broader mass by the year 2022.”
