Nibe unveils residential propane air-to-water heat pumps reaching 5.53 COP

Swedish heating technology manufacturer Nibe has introduced the S2060 series, a range of variable-capacity air-to-water heat pumps for residential and small commercial applications.

The new line expands the company’s lower-output portfolio with two inverter-controlled monoblock outdoor units – the S2060-6 and S2060-10. Both models use natural refrigerant propane (R290) and are designed for buildings with heating loads of up to 7 kW and 10 kW, respectively.

The systems are intended for new construction projects as well as the replacement of fossil fuel-based heating systems.

“Leading-edge inverter technology automatically adjusts the heat pump’s output to the building’s actual demand,” the manufacturer said in a statement. “This reduces energy consumption and ensures low operating costs throughout the year.”

According to Nibe, the S2060 series achieves a seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) of up to 5.33 and an A+++ energy efficiency rating for space heating at both 35 C and 55 C flow temperatures. Under EN 14511 nominal test conditions at 7 C/35 C, the S2060-6 reportedly provides 4.92 kW of heating capacity with a coefficient of performance (COP) of 5.53, while the S2060-10 reaches 6.02 kW with a COP of 5.42.

The heat pumps operate with flow temperatures of up to 75 C and can provide 65 C supply water at outdoor temperatures down to -25 C, according to the manufacturer. In cooling mode, the S2060-6 reaches a nominal capacity of 8.48 kW at A35/W18 conditions, with an energy efficiency ratio (EER) of 3.64. The larger S2060-10 achieves 10.76 kW of cooling capacity with an EER of 4.05.

The compact outdoor units measure 1,160 mm × 916 mm × 440 mm. The S2060-6 weighs 84 kg, while the S2060-10 has a weight of 91 kg.

At nominal operating conditions of 7 C/45 C, sound power levels are rated at 51 dB(A) for the smaller model and 54 dB(A) for the larger unit.

“Quiet operation facilitates installation even in densely built-up residential areas and other noise-sensitive environments,” the company added. “In addition to heating, the S2060 offers an effective cooling function. During high outdoor temperatures, it helps maintain a pleasant indoor climate, extending the heat pump’s utility beyond the traditional heating season.”
