Viessmann debuts monoblock air-to-water heat pump

The new heat pump system offers 4–12 kW output, up to 75 C flow temperature, and uses R290 refrigerant for efficient retrofit and new-build applications.

German heating specialist Viessmann has expanded its residential heat pump portfolio with the Vitocal 200-A intelligent energy (IE), an air-to-water system for residential applications.

The company said the new product is manufactured in Europe and is designed for single- and two-family homes.

The new product line covers an output range of 4 to 12 kW, positioning it for typical residential heating demands, including both new builds and renovation projects. It can reportedly deliver flow temperatures of up to 75 C, enabling compatibility with existing radiator systems and making it suitable for retrofit applications where low-temperature underfloor heating is not available.

The system used propane (R290) as refrigerant and can achieve a seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) or 4.6–5.0 depending on the size.

A central component of the new platform is the “Universal Controller intelligent energy”, which extends the flexibility of the system architecture. The controller can function either as the dedicated heat pump control unit for the Vitocal 200-A IE or as a standalone energy management interface.

In standalone mode, it enables integration of broader energy systems, including third-party photovoltaic installations, positioning the heat pump within a more holistic household energy management ecosystem.

“The energy transition is decided in the boiler room—and on the construction site. With the Vitocal 200-A ie, we are providing installers with a heat pump that supports our vision of bringing intelligent energy to every household: its strengths include an excellent balance of price and performance, as well as enhanced ease of installation, all in the familiar Viessmann premium design,” says Dr. Conrad Wiedeler, Managing Director of Viessmann Deutschland GmbH.
