EDF offers UK customers free seven-year service, warranty on air-source heat pumps
EDF is offering UK customers a free seven-year servicing and warranty package when purchasing an air-source heat pump.
The offer, worth GBP 750 ($1,017), is available to customers who purchase an air-source heat pump before August 31. It will cover whichever heat pump manufacturer customers select as part of the installation.
The company says the package aims to encourage homeowners to secure a heat pump installation ahead of a post-summer seasonal rush, with demand for low-carbon heating expected to grow as winter approaches.
The new incentive follows an update to the UK government’s boiler upgrade scheme, in place since July, which currently offers households in England and Wales that switch from heating oil to a heat pump a GBP 9,000 grant.
EDF estimates that its new service and warranty package when combined with the latest government grant means households are currently able to install an EDF heat pump for GBP 4,100.
Figures published by the company state that air-source heat pumps are typically 300-400% more efficient than a standard gas boiler.
“Air source heat pumps offer an opportunity to lower household emissions and, for many homes, reduce heating costs compared with traditional heating oil and gas boilers,” commented EDF’s Director of Business Development, Toby Allen. “We’re committed to helping more customers take control of their energy costs while reducing their carbon footprint.”
EDF launched a heat pump tracker tariff in the UK in April 2024. In its latest update, the company says a customer switching from a 94% efficient gas boiler to an air-source heat pump with a seasonal coefficient of performance of 3.1 could save around GBP 146 annually when using its tariff.
The UK government recorded 10,693 retrofit heat pump installations in the first quarter of the year, representing a market slowdown. Air-to-water heat pumps dominate the UK retrofit market, accounting for 99% of installations in the first three months of 2026.
Heat pump sales across 21 European countries increased by 13% year-on-year in 2025, according to recent analysis by the European Heat Pump Association, with sales led by air-to-air and air-to-water heat pumps.
