EU likely to phase out fossil fuel-powered boilers by 2040

Jamaican utility launches solar-plus-storage, wind project tender
Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS) is inviting applications for engineering, procurement and construction services of a 115 MW utility-scale solar plant, 171.5 MWh battery energy storage system and 12 MW wind plant at unspecified locations at unspecified locations in the Caribbean country.
Comoros to revamp its solar-plus-storage offerings, network
The Government of Comoros wants to improve the supply and storage of solar on its islands and is inviting applications for the development, operation and maintenance of multiple PV plants with a combined output of 9 MW, as well as battery and storage facilities totaling 20 MWh.
Nuclear who?
Authors of the “World Nuclear Industry Status Report 2023” define the future role of nuclear energy in the global energy mix as “irrelevant” and “marginal.” The authors add that there were 407 operational reactors producing 365 GW in the middle of the year, which is less than installed capacity predictions for solar by the end of the year.

Midsummer secures funding for 200 MW Swedish solar factory
Swedish thin-film solar manufacturer Midsummer inked a deal with the European Union Innovation Fund grant to receive €32.3 million ($34.8 million) to pay for a third of the company’s soon-to-be-built copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) solar module production facility in Sweden.

TotalEnergies tops large-scale developer list with 41.3 GW in solar portfolio
TotalEnergies had the biggest amount of utility-scale PV projects in its swag from July 2022 to June 2023, according to United States (US) research firm Mercom. The French energy company had 12 GW of solar projects operating, 3.8 GW under construction and 25.5 GW in the pipeline, according to Mercom’s hotly anticipated “Annual Global Report.”

EU governing bodies provisionally approve digital product passport
