SMA opens 60 GW inverter factory for high-power applications in Germany
SMA has opened an inverter factory near Kassel, Germany, with annual production capacity of more than 60 GW. The highly automated facility will manufacture utility-scale inverters and modular conversion systems for PV, battery storage, hybrid and power-to-gas projects.

PV inverters provide reactive power to Milan’s grid at night
Researchers in Milan used PV inverters to supply 500 kVAr of reactive power to the distribution grid for four hours overnight. The trial showed that existing solar equipment can support voltage regulation even when it is not generating electricity.
Sungrow raises inverter, storage prices by up to 15%

Brazilian researchers have developed a method to quantify energy losses caused by delayed PV inverter startup, finding annual losses of 1.88% at a utility-scale solar plant in São Paulo state. More than 55% of the losses occurred within the first 90 minutes after sunrise, with significant variations among individual inverters.
