Alpex Solar inaugurates 2.2 GW TOPCon cell factory in India

Alpex Solar has inaugurated a 2.2 GW tunnel-oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) solar cell factory in the Kosi Kotwan Industrial Area in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh.

The company said the 900,000-square-foot facility will produce G12R TOPCon solar cells.

The factory expands Alpex Solar’s cell manufacturing capacity and strengthens its ability to serve India’s solar market.

“The 2.2 GW G12R TOPCon cell manufacturing facility marks an important milestone in Alpex Solar’s journey from a solar module manufacturer and EPC provider to a more deeply integrated renewable energy company,” said Aditya Sehgal, CEO of Alpex Solar.

“The 2.2 GW TOPCon cell facility represents a strategic investment in expanding our manufacturing depth and creating greater value across the solar PV value chain,” said Monica Sehgal, whole-time director of Alpex Solar. “Vertical integration will give us greater control over critical inputs, technology and quality, while improving our ability to respond to evolving market requirements.”

Alpex Solar operates manufacturing facilities in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Its portfolio includes solar cells and modules, engineering, procurement and construction services, solar pumps, and aluminum frames. The company plans to add five manufacturing units across Greater Noida and Kosi Kotwan in Uttar Pradesh, as well as Madhya Pradesh.
