A French research team analyzed nearly three years of wind and turbulence measurements over a 140-hectare photovoltaic park in southwestern France, comparing it with a nearby pine forest to understand airflow behavior above PV canopies. They found that wind direction relative to panel rows strongly controls turbulence and drag, and they developed a generalized wind-profile parameterization to better represent PV parks in land–atmosphere and weather models.
China adopts tougher mandatory energy limits for polysilicon plants
China has published a stricter mandatory energy consumption standard for polysilicon production, lowering the maximum allowable energy use for existing rod-silicon plants and tightening accounting rules. The revised standard, effective Jan. 1, 2027, could significantly reduce China’s compliant polysilicon capacity, although the near-term supply impact may be limited because much of the affected capacity is already idle.
