Hinen launches 13.68 kWh residential energy storage system

China-based inverter and energy storage system provider Hinen has launched its A15 residential energy storage system in the United Kingdom. The system combines hybrid inverters with modular, high-voltage lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries.

The A15 pairs Hinen’s A-series hybrid inverters with its B15 high-voltage battery module. Each B15 module has a nominal capacity of 14.4 kWh and an initial usable capacity of 13.68 kWh. Up to six battery modules can be connected in parallel, providing up to 86.4 kWh of nominal capacity and 82.08 kWh of usable capacity.

Each B15 battery weighs 117 kg and is equipped with handles. The system is compatible with Hinen’s single-phase and three-phase A-series hybrid inverters. Single-phase models are available with power ratings ranging from 3.6 kW to 15 kW.

The 3.6 kW inverter option falls within the scope of the United Kingdom’s G98 connection process, under which qualifying systems can generally be installed before the distribution network operator (DNO) is notified. Higher-power systems may require a different grid-connection process, depending on the installation and DNO requirements.

The A15 has a depth of 180 mm and can be installed in garages, utility rooms and other areas where space is limited. It supports wall- and floor-mounted installation, with adjustable feet available for floor mounting.

Hinen said the battery is rated for more than 8,000 cycles and comes with a 12-year warranty. The company said the system does not require an external battery management system (BMS), reducing the amount of wiring required during installation.

The battery incorporates a heating system designed to enable operation at temperatures as low as -20 C. The system has an IP65 enclosure and what Hinen describes as a five-layer protection system.

According to Hinen, the A15 also includes a built-in circuit breaker, automatic fault isolation designed to allow continued operation if an individual battery module fails, and an internal aerosol fire-suppression system.

Users can monitor real-time energy consumption through the Hinen app, which also supports over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates. The system can be used for applications including solar self-consumption and supplying loads such as electric vehicle chargers and heat pumps.

The A15 launch marks more than a new product – it strengthens our commitment to local partnerships and the support network needed to help installers and homeowners adopt energy storage with confidence,” said Dustin Wang, country general manager at Hinen UK.

Hinen unveiled the A15 during an online event aimed at installers. Participants included the company’s technical team, UK distributors and installers, industry representatives and homeowners. The event featured installation and commissioning demonstrations, information on Hinen’s experience in the Australian market, and introductory pricing for installers.
