Terna, the Italian grid operator, says that it has received grid-connection requests for 144.48 GW of solar projects to date.

Italy’s new provisions state that fiscal credits can be awarded to PV project developers that use solar panels produced in the European Union with module efficiency ratings of more than 21.5%, or products with cell efficiencies above 23.5%. The fiscal credits will cover up to 35% of panel prices.

Italy’s most important event for renewable energy took place last week in Rimini with a 41% increase in visitors and about 30% growth in the number of participating brands. This reflects the sustained growth of the Italian PV sector and also underscores the expansion of the trade show, which is now Europe’s second-largest PV event after Germany’s SmarterE – Intersolar.

Enel has obtained €560 million ($610.2 million) for a solar module factory it is building in Catania, Sicily.

A 28-kilometer underground power cable owned by Italian grid operator Terna started work on Friday, the company announced. The interconnector connects substations in Glorenza northern Italy and Nauders eastern Austria.
