Taiwan introduces new solar rules for large buildings
From August, Taiwan will require new, expanded or renovated buildings of 1,000 square metres or larger to install 1 kW of solar for every 20 square metres of building area. The new rules are expected to add 660 MW of solar capacity annually.

Polish scientists build 21.87% semi-transparent perovskite PV cell for tandem applications
The device was fabricated using a p–i–n architecture with a solution-processed tin oxide buffer layer that shields the perovskite from damage during room-temperature indium tin oxide sputtering. Report: Global PV installations reach 7.3 gigawatts in 2009; PV market volume more than USD$37 billion
Global sales of photovoltaic (PV) panels reached USD$37.2 billion last year, said the European Photonics Industry Consortiums (EPIC) Report on Photovoltaics: PV Market Overview 2009. During the same period, PV electrical generation capacity installed was 7.3 gigawatts (GW).

Soliant Energy receives UL listing for commercial rooftop solar systems
Soliant Energy has received UL Listing from the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. for its SE-500X solar cells. The company also says its SE-500X line is the first product certified to be under the SU 8703 UL draft standard, a new comprehensive code defined specifically to test safety parameters of concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) products.
