Borrego Solar Systems Inc., a leading designer, developer, installer and financier of grid-tied solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, has announced that it was ranked as the second EPC on Solar Power World’s 2014 Top Commercial Solar Contractor list and as the second commercial contractor on the 2014 Top California Solar Contractors list. Ranking was determined by the number of megawatts a company installed in 2013, which marked a record year for Borrego Solar as it installed 34.4 megawatts (MW) of solar electricity last year—23 percent of the company’s total installed capacity.

This is the third iteration of Solar Power World’s Top Solar Contractors list, which ranks companies working in four markets – utility, commercial, residential and off-grid – and in varying capacities according to influence in the solar market in 2013. This year’s list was expanded by 150 companies over last year’s Top 250, mirroring growth in the industry.

"This achievement represents all the hard work our employees have done through their commitment to creating unique solutions for each and every solar project we work on," said Mike Hall, CEO at Borrego Solar. "During 2013, Borrego Solar experienced unprecedented successes in key solar markets like Massachusetts and across several industries, such as schools and landfill sites. Our high ranking on Solar Power World’s 2014 lists validates our growth and success in driving clean energy adoption within an expanding list of communities across the country."

“We are so proud of our list, which has expanded not only by number, but by the types of recognition we can give contractors in multiple segments across the solar industry," said Kathie Zipp, managing editor at Solar Power World. "Thanks to all the companies who participated – we are thrilled to honor your hard work in our publication."

Borrego Solar currently has 100 MW of projects under contract and in various stages of development across the country. These include New Hampshire’s largest ever solar project in Peterborough, the Vermont waste industry’s largest solar project located in Coventry, and a rooftop installation atop the Anaheim Convention Center in California.
